The Running Link running series is giving back to the community! A series of 5 run and walk events in the Temiskaming area will fundraise for some local community organizations promoting healthy and active lifestyles. STATO is one of the 3 organizations chosen…. Participants can pledge to benefit either STATO, the Nordic Ski Club or the Loons Swim club, or pledge all 3 causes evenly.
Start times are 9:30am for toddler under 5 years of age, at 9:40 for kids under 12 years of age, and at 10:00am for 5km or 10km walk or run… You can pre-register at the Running Link prior to race day, or register on site on Sunday morning between 8:30am and 9:30am.
The next walk/run events are as follow:
- Sunday August 29th : Start at the Haileybury Waterfront
- Saturday October 2nd : Start at the Temiskaming Nordic Ski Club
- Saturday November 25th : The Annual Chilly Runs, Start at the Pool & Fitness Center.
Each runs include a 100m toddler dash, 1km kids run or walk, 5km run or walk and a 10km run or walk. Cost is only $5.00 for 100m or 1km, and $10.00 for $5km or 10km. Should you chose to pledge for STATO, note that for optional additional pledges over $50.00, you will receive a charitable receipt.
STATO would like to thank the Running Link for helping to support STATO, the Nordic Ski Club and the Loons Swim club, the as part of their Get Active series… We hope that you, at home, will participate to all 5 events and support your favorite organization by being active and promote healthy lifestyles! STATO and the City of Temiskaming Shores are pleased to announce that the initial ground work for the development of an active transportation system from one end of the municipality to the other is underway. Phase one of the project which is located north of City Hall to the Haileybury Beach was staked by local Contractor James Lathem Excavating in mid-November and completion of this phase is set for July of 2008. Ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for 11h30 this morning (Friday) in Haileybury.
